The Showstopperz defeated Street Legends 73-42 back on
February 12th in a game that saw all nine Showstopperz score.
However, that game took place before Chris Isaac and Kenny Taylor joined Street
legends. While the new acquisitions have yet to really pan out for Mauricio
Mejia and Co., it does present a much different look. Out of Street Legends 3 wins,
two came via forfeit. One the other hand, The Showstopperz are 9-1 and haven’t
lost a game in two months.
Prediction: Showstopperz
#2 Terror Squad versus #7 Supers
Terror Squad held the number one seed all season until their
Week 1 matchup with The Showstopperz. They beat The Supers 50-41 on March 5th
thanks to a strong second half and 18 points and 13 rebounds from All Show
player Walt White. The Supers made it to the finals last season, but a 4-6 finish
may prove to be the last chapter for this squad after 4 stellar season. The
squad still has the swagger of a finalist and the confidence that they can
upset the number two seeded Terror Squad, but that may end up being a pipe dream.
Don’t expect the Supers to just lay down, but in the end Terror Squad may have
the honor of putting the final nail in the Supers coffin. The only question may
be what teams players like Kelvin Simmons and Shomari Glasco join after The
Supers get busted up.
Prediction: Terror Squad
#3 Long Beach Knights versus #6 Ran By Faith
This is going to be a good one. Herb, Efram, Carl, Jarrell
and Ryan versus Chigo, Junior, Chuma, Chinedu…this may be a tough one to call.
Ran By Faith is not a traditional no. 6 seed. They started slowly dropping
their first couple games but have come on strong as the season progressed. The
Knights beat R.B.F. 65-59 on March 12th and have formed their most
impressive team in 3 seasons. Eddie Patterson will be key matching power with
the Omeaku brothers in the paint, but both teams present tough matchups for the
other. In the end, the key may be Efram Hawkins. Efram has the size and
athleticism to guard multiple positions and can be a matchup problem on the
offensive end. Expect a a sneaky 12 & 9 from Hawkins and that may be what
decides this one.
Prediction: Long Beach Knights
#4 D.A.W.G.S. versus #5 Do Work
You take Rhian Donnadelle’s speed, Sean Neal’s post defense
and add Brian Gonzales scoring and Eddie Calvo’s passing and you can see why
the D.A.W.G.S. have had a breakout season. Last season, it was looking as if
Neal and Donnadelle never should’ve broken away from the Supers, but it seems
they may get the last laugh after finishing 6-4 and securing the no. 4 seed.
However, their opponent is no pushover. Do Work is battle tested. D.A.W.G.S.
defeated Do Work 51-47 on February 12th in possibly Do Work’s worst
game all season. Kirk McClung was held to 3 points and Brandon Ross had 9
points and 1 rebound. Well, below his 18 & 7 season average. The D.A.W.G.S.
have a chance to prove that their defense truly won them that game, but Randy
Winbush and company area dangerous bunch when motivated. Expect to see Do Work
in the semifinals.
Prediction: Do Work
