#1Terror Squad (7-0) When you're undefeated, no one can tell you
anything. Terror Squad leads the league in scoring, three point percentage and
free throw percentage. They are also second in field goal percentage and
rebounds. The Squad has 6 players averaging double figure scoring and might
possibly be the most skilled team
in the league. Their only setback has been that leading scorer Flake Sanchez is
done for the season having returned to play for the Mexican National Team.
Walt, Emmett, Dre and the guys are still going to be a problem regardless. Bet.
#2The
Showstopperz (6-1) Another team with just a gang of talent. They operate on
balance. The Showstopperz have 7 players
who average 6 points or more and are one of the few teams that are at their
best when all nine players show up. They can matchup with anyone and are
arguably the best defensive team in the league, leading all teams in rebounds,
steals and blocked shots.
#3Long
Beach Knights (4-3) The Knights take care of the ball. They are number one in
turnovers, partly because everyone knows their role and doesn’t stray too far
from it. Their collective basketball IQ is quite high, which leads to very few
mistakes. You’re not going to out-think the Knights too often, but as always it
is possible to out-work them.
#4D.A.W.G.S.
(4-3) In contrast to The Knights, the Dawgs don’t take very good care of the basketball.
They rank last in turnovers and commit more fouls per game than any other team.
However, they beat the teams they’re supposed to beat. In fact, their only
losses have come at the hands no. 1 and no.2 ranked teams in the league.
#5Air
Force (3-4*)Another loaded team. They
have five players averaging double figures, athleticism, shooting and the
biggest man in the league. They have underachieved thus far because unlike the
Knights they often make bad decisions with the basketball, but they have the
ability to beat any team in the league.
#6Ran
By Faith (2-4*) This team is much better than their record. It has taken them a
while to get settled, but we have seen signs of these guys being a problem.
Four players average double figure scoring, they can shoot and they have great
size. RBF is just one of those teams that may be a dangerous first round
opponent assuming they make the playoffs.
#7Supers
(3-4) The Supers are not the defensive team they once were, but they are still a
good measuring stick for the league. The problem is they aren’t used to being a
measuring stick, they’re used to being the bullies. The addition of Brandon
Jones and the re-emergence of Shomari Glasco gives them a chance to compete,
but they’ll need more from everyone else if they are going to win.
#8Do
Work (2-4) Do Work, you’re not in Downey anymore. The reigning Downey champs,
have had a tough go thus far and they aren’t used to it at all. They rank last
in assists and second to last in rebounds. The one bright spot thus far has
been league leading scorer Brandon Ross. Do Work, despite the slow start, has
the experience to win when it counts.
#9Street
Legends (2-4) Adding Chris Isaac, Kenny Taylor and Ray Alexander might help
make what was a playoff after thought of a team a legitimate threat to finish
in the top 8. Devan Jones has not played at an All Show level, but the
additions may give him more room to operate. They’ll definitely help Mauri
Mejia.
#10Mohicans
(0-6)The Mohicans rank either last or in the bottom three in 6 different
categories. The most glaring is their 36.7 ppg average. They have shown
flashes, but simply can’t put enough points on the board to get a W. The team
plays with a great amount of heart and energy, but it’ll take more than that to
win a game. The way things are looking, Mohicans may go winless, unless they
get a forfeit victory. Yeah, it’s that bad.
*Record pending result of Week 8 replay.
