News Title:  R.B.F. And Air Force To Replay Controversial Finish

With Air Force nursing a tender 44-42 lead in the midst of a furious RBF comeback, Adam Brown came under duress in the guise of a RBF trap. With five seconds remaining in the game, teammate Anthony Cartwright called for a time out. However, Air Force was out of timeouts and were flagged with a technical foul. RBF missed the subsequent free throw, but the referees ruled that Air Force would maintain possession after the foul shot. After reviewing the NBA rules regarding the call The Show Basketball League officials have decided to overturn the ruling that Air Force should maintain possession and have ordered that the final five second of the game be replayed.

Here is the rule, labeled Rule 12, Section I, Article (a) in the NBA Official Rules Handbook:

Section I—Excessive Timeouts
a. Requests for a timeout in excess of the authorized number shall be granted and a
technical foul shall be assessed. Following the timeout and free throw attempt, the ball will be awarded to the team which shot the free throw and play shall resume with a throw-in
nearest the spot where play was interrupted.
b. If the excessive timeout is granted prior to free throw attempt(s), there will be no
line-up for the remaining free throws and play shall resume with a throw-in at the point of
interruption by the team which shot the technical foul.
c. If the excessive timeout is granted prior to a jump ball, the ball shall be awarded to
the team shooting the technical foul at the point of interruption.

As a result of the League's decision to overturn the call, the final five seconds of the Week 2 match up between Ran By Faith and Air Force will be replayed at a later date. The replay will come prior to a second game between the two teams. The game situation will be preserved to the best of its ability, meaning that only players present for the game in question are eligible to participate in the replay. As there was a dead ball situation substitutions will be permitted, but only eligible players may be substituted. Eligible players are:

Air Force: Adam Brown, Josh Brown, Arrow Harper, Louis Davis, Anthony Duncan, Anthony Cartwright, Marcus Morris, Gary Hester and Robert Cargile.

Ran By Faith: Chigozie Omeaku, Junior Omeaku, Rashad Williams, Brandon Williams, Chinedu Gilliam and Marquis Reynolds.

The score is 44-42 with 5.0 seconds on the game clock, Both teams are out of fouls. Individual fouls will stand as is. Should the game be tied at the end of regulation a three minute overtime will be played. R.B.F. will be allowed to advance the ball to halfcourt.
